Batter for Dipain Frire, Gateux Pomme De Terre, Gateux Bringelle (fried bread, potatoes, egg plant)


Today we are sharing a recipe for the batter to make these highly popular battered potatos, bread and egg plant slices a very popular street food in Mauritius and for when guests come round! Enjoy! x


Ingredients:

3 cups Gram flour

1 1/2 cups of plain flour

1 onion sliced thinly

half tbsp crushed/grated ginger

half tbsp grated/crushed garlic

1 tbsp cumin powder

1 tbsp cumin seeds

salt to taste

a pinch of yellow food colouring

a handful of chopped corriander

water



Method:

Add the plain flour and gram flour to a large bowl, now add all the other ingredients and mix well..now for the water we need to add this gradually to form a batter that isn't too thick but thick enough to stick to the items you will dip in there so do this part slowly! (if you end
