Privacy policy

TALK Mauritius keeps data collection to the minimum needed to run the site.

What we collect

• Listing requests. When you use the “Get listed” form we store what you enter (name, contact details, links and description) so we can create your listing.
• Listing pages. Businesses and entertainers listed on the site have asked to be listed; their pages show the details they gave us.
• Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages, words and listings people use, so we know what to improve. It sets cookies to tell visits apart. It records things like the pages you view, the words you look up in the translator, the filters you pick and the listing contact buttons you press, along with your approximate location and device type. It does not tell us who you are. Outside the EU and EEA analytics is on unless you decline; in the EU and EEA it only runs if you allow it.
• Blog view counts. Each post counts how many times it has been read. We don't record who read it; your browser remembers for the session that it already counted your visit.

What we don't do

We don't use advertising cookies, we've turned off Google's advertising features, and we don't sell your details. Words you type into the translator are looked up in our dictionary and aren't saved by us; if analytics is on, Google Analytics counts the words looked up, without knowing who looked them up.

Other services

The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver pages. Google Analytics is provided by Google, which processes the analytics data for us. Listing videos load from YouTube only when you press play, and share buttons open Facebook, X or WhatsApp only if you choose to use them.

Your choices

To update or remove a listing or anything you sent us, get in touch.

To turn analytics on or off, use cookie settings (or "Cookies" at the bottom of every page). Your choice is saved in your browser, so clearing your browser data resets it.
